My career started initially at Edinburgh Royal Infirmary, where I trained as a Physiotherapist, qualifying in 1975 and working in the NHS for a few years before spending the next 16 years travelling abroad as a military wife. On my return to the UK I continued to work in a number of NHS and BUPA hospitals as an orthopaedic physiotherapist.
At one point in time I was a sports physiotherapist to a Fife Rugby Club. My career however was punctuated in 1991 by becoming extremely debilitated for a number of years with ME (CFS). I subsequently fully recovered from this by changing my diet and dealing with the affects of stress and emotional trauma.
It was a natural progression for me to start training as a Nutritional Therapist and once I had qualified , starting my own Private Physiotherapy and Nutritional Therapy Clinic in Aberdeenshire, where I was living in 1994. Not long after that, having relocated near Glasgow, I heard about the 'Human Givens Approach' and decided to embark on their Graduate Diploma Course as I was so impressed by the effectiveness of this form of counseling and psychotherapy.
I am so glad I did because this training pulled together everything I was interested in. I am now a Supervisor for this same course and run Seminars for the College. In 2008 I was thrilled to be given a CAM Award for my holistic health practice.
While I no longer practice physiotherapy, the knowledge I gained working in this field has been invaluable to me. I have since taken further training in Functional and Mind/Body Medicine and am especially interested in the effects of food and mood, diet and behaviour and the power of a holistic approach to mental and physical health and wellbeing. I take a keen interest in the effects of trauma and am working with the Charity PSTD Resolution helping Veterans to rebuild their lives.
I have a busy Private Nutritional Therapy and Human Givens/ Psychotherapy and Counselling Practice and see clients from all over the country and abroad in the Scottish Borders and in Edinburgh or via Skype and run occasional retreats from a coastal holiday home in Argyll.
I have always had a keen interest in helping individuals and couples achieve all that life has for them and feel that it is the combination of my training and skills, creativity and intuition along with my extraordinary life experiences that gives me the
edge in helping people achieve their maximum potential - body, mind and spirit.
I look forward to helping you take the next step in the direction of your dreams and goals.
Wishing you health and wholeness.
